Sri Lanka unfolded like a living canvas — vibrant, soulful, and layered with stories that echoed across time. My journey began in the heart of the Cultural Triangle, where I climbed the ancient rock fortress of Sigiriya at sunrise. As I stood atop the Lion Rock, with mist curling over the jungle below and the ruins of an ancient kingdom at my feet, I felt a deep sense of awe for the island’s rich past.
In Kandy, the sacred rhythms of tradition moved me. I visited the Temple of the Tooth during evening prayers, where flickering lamps and chants filled the air with an energy that was both spiritual and grounding. Strolling around Kandy Lake, I watched monks pass silently in saffron robes while schoolchildren laughed on their way home — a perfect blend of serenity and everyday life.
From there, the train journey to Ella was nothing short of magical. Winding through tea plantations and misty hills, every turn revealed waterfalls, waving children, and endless green. In Ella, I hiked Little Adam’s Peak at dawn and rewarded myself with a warm roti and a cup of fresh Ceylon tea with a view that stretched for miles.
